Satellite speed

To get it to circle the earth, the gravity pulling it toward the Earth has to be offset by the speed at which the satellite is trying to move forward in a straight line. At each altitude that speed will be different, so the telecommunications company needs to figure out the right speed for the altitude of 12,000 km.
